Open Culture
The K. E. Macan Library and Printing House for the Blind (KTN) is the only library in the Czech Republic that produces its own collection:
- prints books in Braille
- records audio books
- produces relief graphics
KTN
KTN is located in Prague, at Ve Smečkách 15 (tel. 222 210 492). There is also a lending library (tel. 778 482 145). This location is in the city center, near Wenceslas Square, on the second street on the left if you are walking down from the National Museum.
KTN's mission
- to make information and artistic values accessible to blind and severely visually impaired citizens through Braille, audio recordings, relief graphics, and digitized texts

- production and lending of Braille and audio books
How?
- In the form of personal loans at Smečky 15
- By postal delivery
- For immobile visually impaired readers, books are delivered once a month throughout Prague
- Through the Biblio Digital Internet Library
Other KTN activities
- Transcription of textbooks and sheet music into Braille

- Sale of pocket, desk, and wall calendars in Braille and large print
- Sale of Braille alphabet and Braille paper
- sale of Braille magazines Literární pohledy (Literary Views) and Křesťanská orientace (Christian Orientation)
- the magazine Záškolák (Truant) and the bulletin Informace knihovny (Library Information) are free of charge

How do I become a user of the K. E. Macan Library and Printing House for the Blind?
- In the Downloads section, fill out the KTN Reader Application, print it, sign it, and have it confirmed by your ophthalmologist or attach a copy of your ZTP/P card.
- If you want to use the Biblio Digital Internet Library, also print out the KTN Reader's Declaration, sign it, and have your signature certified, e.g., at the Czech POINT window at the post office.
- Either scan the completed forms and send them as an attachment to ktn@ktn.cz or send the originals by post to: Knihovna a tiskárna pro nevidomé K. E. Macana, Ve Smečkách 15, 115 17 Prague 1.
